Among The Best Destinations for Mountain Bikers is Colorado’s quaint Crested Butte. The history of mountain biking has deep roots in this community and the the cyclist friendly town offers a wide variety of trails including rides well over 13,000 feet that are second to none. While it may be difficult to decide which trails to bike, riders should certainly not pass up the 401 or the 403. Both trails offer wonderful views and trek high into peaks. Fruita, Colorado, roughly 126 miles from Crested Butte is another biker’s paradise that is well within reach for a weekend trip from Crested Butte. On Fruita’s trails riders will wind over desert hills and climb over broken sandstone. Many of Fruita’s bike trails offer plateau views, a main attraction of the Kokopelli Trail. A highlight of Fruita is its location; there is excellent destination riding in either direction in Grand Junction and Moab. Sedona, Arizona, Brevard, North Carolina, and Sun Valley, Idaho are also mentioned on the list of the best destinations for mountain bikers.
