Summertime in Crested Butte means an endless amount of fun activities. 8 Crested Butte Summer events you can’t miss include, Bike Week, live music, the Crested Butte Music Festival, Fourth of July, the Wildflower Festival, the Living Journey’s Summit Hike and 1/2 Marathon, the Wine and Food Festival, and the Arts Festival. With the events spanning all summer long there is plenty of opportunity to experience the Crested Butte culture. A local favorite, the Fourth of July parade is the biggest event of the year. Drawing a massive crowd, the parade is a Colorado classic. It exhibits everything from extravagant costumes and creative homemade floats, to a huge water fight at the parade’s finish line. Following the parade is live music and later in the night, fireworks. The Arts Festival is another crowd favorite. Elk Avenue is blocked off and lined with Artists and their tents filled with jewelry, furniture, paintings, woodwork, and other handcrafted pieces of art. The Crested Butte Music Festival begins June 25 and goes until August 20. The festival presents a great variety of different music to inspire appreciation for new art forms. This year the festival has added a new venue- the Mirror Palace for many of its exciting shows. Bike Week, hosted by the Crested Butte/Mt. Crested Butte Chamber of Commerce, is the world’s oldest mountain bike festival. The festival offers events for everyone, including mountain biking films, clinics, a costumed chainless race downhill for 7 miles or the Fat Tire 40- a serious 40 miles single track race.
