Start making your plans now. Here are 10 reasons why the Crested Butte Film Festival is the best thing about fall in Colorado. Scheduled September 29th through October 2nd, over 100 films will be screened in Crested Butte. One – A diverse film lineup. Feature length narratives, documentaries, comedy shorts, kids films and adventure films fill the lineup. Two- magical mountain scenery. There is no more beautiful place than Crested Butte during September for a film festival. The temperatures are perfect and beauty is in every direction. Three – it’s easy navigate. Unlike giant film festivals in other locations, Crested Butte Film Festival offers all films and events within walking distance of each other. Four – it coincides with peak fall color. Thousands of people drive to the area just to see some of the worlds largest aspen groves at the height of their transition to gold and yellow. Adding the option to see some of the 100+ films is a huge bonus! Five – the Outdoor Adventure Program. A special late evening presentation of some truly incredible adventure inspired films that will get your adrenaline pumping! Six – Camping at Oh-be-Joyful. A well known camp site puts you in the heart of the wilderness while being just a few minutes drove from town. Seven – Access to visiting Filmmakers. Enjoy post screening Q&A or (gently) bump into one of over 30 filmmakers who will be in town for the fun. Eight – Local restaurants and nightlife. There are too many to list here, but check out my Crested Butte Restaurant Guide for more detailed descriptions of all of your dining options in CB. Nine – Get your vitamin D. This time of year is prime for a hike, mountain bike ride, a stroll down Elk Avenue or just chilling on a bench in the sun. Ten – the stories. This should probably be number one… each film was chosen from a pool of over 500. The stories of love, adventure, adversity, and triumph will be found throughout.
So grab some popcorn and let these incredible films take you somewhere new!
