You are going to want to know the best places to eat and drink while skiing at Crested Butte. With feet of snow in the forecast, more terrain will be opening up and all that riding is sure to build up an appetite! Save that stale energy bar in your pocket for another trip and enjoy some of the great food options that Crested Butte has to offer. Here are some of the best places for on mountain eats as well as a few awesome apres ski options. Also be sure to bookmark my Restaurants page for more information on all the dining options in Mt. Crested Butte and Crested Butte.
Where to eat on the slopes:
Paradise Warming House – located at the base of the Paradise Express Lift, accessible via mostly blue level terrain. From the base area, take the Silver Queen Lift and ski down Silver Queen Road to the Paradise bowl or take the Red Lady lift and get there via Bubba’s Shortcut. Paradise serves up delicious soups, sandwiches and pasta as well as on-the-go snacks.
Ten Peaks/Umbrella Bar – located at the top of the Painter Boy, Prospect and Gold Link Lifts. From the base area take the Red Lady lift, then Houston, Poverty Gulch or Mineral Point to the Painter Boy Lift. At the top, ski a few yards to the Umbrella bar and enjoy soups, chili, or a variety of german style sausages with optional grilled onions and sauerkraut. The Umbrella Bar offers a full bar as well as 360 degree unforgettable views!
The Bakery and Brown Labrador – Located at the base area. If you are facing the lifts, these two businesses share a space on the hillside to your left. In the morning the Bakery is a quick option for a pastry or burrito to go. For lunch they make a mean (and VERY cheesy) pizza or if you wait to hit the pizza counter until after 3pm, you can get pizza slices and many of the remaining baked goods for $1. The Brown Labrador runs the bar. Enjoy daily specials at the bar or hang out on the patio and people watch while you enjoy a cold one.
Waffle Cabin – Located at the base area next to the information table on the far left (if you are facing the lifts). This tiny hut serves up fresh made waffles and hot chocolate sauce. It’s a great snack any time of day!
The Ice Bar at Uleys – Located between the Red Lady and Silver Queen lifts. Get there via Peanut (green) from the Red Lady or chose from a variety of (black) trails off of the Silver Queen. Th eIce bar is a hot spot for grabbing a mid run drink or a bowl of soup while you soak up the sunshine and enjoy the views from their large deck.
Apre Ski Options:
Coal Creek Grill – $2 craft beer pints from 3-6, bar specials like steak frites, all you can eat wings and $2 tacos on Tuesdays! I recommend sharing a plate of the pulled pork/chorizo nachos with your friends.
Montanya’s – a tasting room for their award winning, in house distilled rum. Spicy, sweet, hot, cold, creamy, straight up – they have it all! Plus a very tasty artisan food menu to enjoy. Check out their specials leading up to Christmas for great deals on rum, food and merchandise.
The Last Steep – From 3-6pm, enjoy $7 Titos Bloodys, $1 off beer and well drinks and $2 chips and salsa plus a huge selection of appetizers.
Bonez – Enjoy a tasty margarita while snacking on a variety of quesos, guac, tacos and other appetizers.
Butte 66 – You won’t have to walk far for a snack and a drink at Butte 66. Located at the base of the ski runs, their massive deck is perfect for watching skiers as you enjoy a burger, an app or an adult milkshake to top off your day of riding.
