The Crested Butte Nordic Alley Loop is an annual Nordic Race and a long standing tradition of crazy costumes, fun and competition in Crested Butte. The race has been around for 31 years and is a staple on the winter calendar in Crested Butte. In an interview with the Marketing Director of Crested Butte Nordic, Drew Holbrook, some of the details of the race are explained. Drew sums up the race as Colorado’s biggest cross country ski race and an American Birkebeiner qualifier. The race is put on by Crested Butte Nordic, the Nordic Ski Capital of Colorado. He goes on to discuss what makes the Alley Loop so unique – the course, the people and the spirit and also touches on some of his favorite costumes over the years. This race is truly one of a kind and draws participants from the local nordic community as well as from around the world. This year, the famous nordic race takes place on February 4th, 2017.
