Whether you are visiting for the holidays or live here full time, here are Five Ways to Ring in the New Year in Crested Butte.
1. Get some turns in
The mountain is reporting 107 inches of snow to date with 17 inches in the last seven days. Cold temperatures are keeping the snow in great condition and 14 out of 15 lifts are open serving 82 out of 121 trails. Not bad considering we haven’t even hit the new year yet! Bonus points for wearing awesome costumes on holidays.
2. Watch the mountain light up
The New Years Eve Torchlight Parade, Kids Glow Worm Parade and fireworks will be held on Crested Butte Mountain Resort on December 31st from 5:30 – 6 pm. Watch from the deck of Butte 66 or anywhere else where you can get a clear view of the front side.
3. Learn something new (or old)
January 1st is free admission day at the Crested Butte Mountain Heritage Museum. Check out the rich history of this tiny ski town and save your money for number 4 on the list! Well thought out exhibits displaying the towns history of mining, skiing, mountain biking and more will surely deepen your appreciation for this special place.
4. Dine in style
Book a Magic Meadows Yurt Dinner on New Years Eve for the ultimate on mountain dining experience. you and your guests will cross country ski or snowshoe (equipment included) to a yurt with a wood burning stove inside, where you will enjoy your meal. On New Years Day, sleep in after your late night festivities and start 2017 out right with a delicious brunch. The Woodstone Grille (inside the Grand Lodge) will be serving a special New Years Day Brunch from 9am – noon including a build your own Bloody Mary bar. 5. Enjoy the Arts
Spend the evening with George Winston at the Crested Butte Center for the Arts. Winston is a master pianist with a repertoire is a variety of styles that range from R&B to melodic to stride piano. If the piano isn’t you thing, stroll up and down Elk Avenue to find artisan rugs, paintings, photography, locally made jewelry and more.

The Mountain Express Bus will be running late on New Years Eve. The last bus from the town hall bus stop to Mountaineer Square leaves at 2:10am and the last bus from the mountain to town is at 2:15 am. Click here for the full details and info on the condo loop services.
