Passing Through: Crested Butte
From the Latitudes travel department, Powder Productions brings us this peek into Crested Butte skiing. The fourth episode of the series, Passing Through: Crested Butte offers insight into the best powder stashes, ski lifts, chairs to lap, best places for after ski aprés, restaurants to visit and accommodations.
Crested Butte sits high in the Colorado Rocky Mountains and at over 9,000 feet, features some of the steepest inbounds terrain in all of North America. “Edging skills or Hospital Bills”, a famous quote from an old Warren Miller ski movie skier… and Crested Butte is just that.
Epic skiing is followed up with great aprés at any one of Crested Butte’s watering holes. The local favorite though is the Avalanche Bar & Grill, “just a classic ski bar” conveniently located at the base area. After a day in the steeps, stop in for a Pain Killer or Avy Warning, both which carry quite a punch.  Next, hop on the free Town Shuttle to the iconic Elk Avenue, a National Historic District, one of the most fun main streets you’ll find in any ski town. This is a must have experience for any avid skier or visitor.
