County Planning Commission Recommends Horse Park Approval Of CB Horse Park
The Crested Butte Horse Park has cleared another hurdle when the Gunnison County Planning Commission Recommends Horse Park Approval Of CB Horse Park. To be located across from the entry to Crested Butte South on the west side of Highway 135, the Crested Butte Horse Park will bring diversity to the valley’s business community. Though widely supported by locals, there are some owners of neighboring properties who are opposed to the Horse Park citing water issues. The water runoff has been a concern of those opposing the project however water engineer Bob Williams has provided a comprehensive drainage report covering how runoff will be controlled. This plan includes ditches, two small self-draining ponds and a berm on the northeast border of the property, not to mention the “absorption factor” especially in the arena. The Crested Butte Horse Park will provide full service horse boarding, training, lessons and horseback riding opportunities for both locals and visitors to the Gunnison Valley.
