Fat Bike World Championships ~
The Fat Bike World Championships return to Crested Butte Colorado January 24-28, 2018. The fun filled week will feature Fat Bikes and of course, Fat Parties! Take in the free demo day, venders, free beer, branded burgers and tons of SWAG. Start off the week and festivities on Wednesday January 24th with the Kick-Off Party at 5:30 at the Brick Oven Pizzaria.
Thursday will start off the races with the North Village Classic starting at 11:00 am. At 10 miles, this race is for either individuals or teams. The North Village is one of the most scenic courses with spectacular views of Mt. Axtell, Gothic Mountain and of course, Mt. Crested Butte. Located just 3 miles up Gothic Road from the Crested Butte Mountain Resort ski area, the North Village is groomed for the Fat Bike World Championships and is a must ride! After a day of Fat Biking, head down to Montanya Distillers for the after party and live music.
Friday January 26th is the Fat Bike World Championships Demo Day. Head back up to the North Village and check out some of the newest Fat Bikes on the market. Event sponsors and venders will be at the North Village from 10am-3pm. First time on a Fat Bike? Come check one out and see what the hype is all about.
Saturday, January 27th is the big day, the Borealis Fat Bike World Championships. The Championship Race is 32 miles long, or you can opt for the Fun Race at 18 miles. Located at the Town Ranch, between the Town of Crested Butte and Crested Butte Mountain, the Town Ranch and East Side venue have killer views all up and down the valley. Normally groomed and designated for Nordic skiing, the Crested Butte Nordic Center graciously grants permission for the use of the course for the third annual Borealis Fat Bike World Championships. After an exciting championship race, head over to the Avalanche Bar & Grill for the after party and live music from The Jauntee.
Sunday, January 28th is downhill day. That’s right, you heard correct, downhill Fat Biking! Crested Butte Mountain Resort will be running their lifts for Fat Bikes from 10am-3pm.
