CBMR Makes The Next Move To Expand Into Teocalli Area
Skiers are about to get a whole lot more skiable terrain as CBMR makes the next move to expand into Teocalli area. Crested Butte Mountain Resort is looking to put in three new ski lifts and expand their skiable terrain by 500 acres. This is great news for skiers as well as summertime bikers and hikers as this will also add an additional 15 miles of hiking and biking trails to the mountain’s summer trail system. Work on the new trail system could begin as early as Spring 2019 but first, comment’s and review from the public is being requested as part of the federal National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process.
The expansion project includes 32 acres of snowmaking coverage, a new Ski Patrol outpost at the top of the existing North Face Lift, 100 acres of new intermediate and advanced trails as well as 434 acres of new gladed terrain which will include new gladed trails. The expansion project will also improve the Evolution Bike park with 15 miles of new hiking trails and downhill biking trails starting from the top of the Silver Queen Lift.
Also included in the ski area expansion is the addition of three new chairlifts. The plan is to have a lift near the Paradise Warming House and another lift from the bottom of the Teo 2 Bowl, taking skiers to the top of the North Face Lift. The third lift will be approximately 6,000 feet long and designed to take skiers from the bottom of the newly expanded terrain to the top of Wolf’s Lair.
