Crested Butte Collection Newsletter

August 2019 Edition

We are enjoying the warm, sunny summer days here in Crested Butte and the “Super Bloom” of wildflowers has been absolutely amazing this year! Colorado’s premier art event and one of the top art events in the nation, the 47th Annual Crested Butte Arts Festival, starts today and runs though the weekend. The Alpenglow summer concert series continues each Monday evening through August 19th and on Wednesdays, the Live! From Mt. CB summer concert series at the Crested Butte Mountain Resort base area runs through August 14th.

The north end of the valley is buzzing with activity this summer. Vail announced its intent to acquire 100% of the outstanding stock of Peak Resorts, Inc. in order to gain 17 additional U.S. ski areas. The Oh Be Joyful Campground received a major facelift and the Forest Service plans to eliminate dispersed camping to protect our beautiful backcountry. In addition, the Crested Butte Land Trust and the U.S. Forest Service executed an official “exchange agreement”, a major milestone in the Long Lake land exchange project.

The overall residential real estate market is down from last year as June was the slowest we have experienced in years. Click here fo the surprising culprit. See our full market report below and click here for our brand new luxury home listing in the town of Crested Butte.

Current market conditions

The overall residential real estate market is down slightly from last year due to the almost nonexistent June traffic we experienced because of an extremely high level of snowpack. Sales volume through July was $86,390,200 down $4,712,669 from last year. Amount of transactions also down (115 compared to 156) but the average sale price, $751,219, is up 22% from $583,992. With summer now in full swing, the arrival of a whole new wave of interested buyers and increased contracts we are still expecting record breaking sales volume the second half of the year.
