Spring Break in Crested Butte: Everything You Need to Know

Spring Break is a busy time of year for any resort community in Colorado, but in a town as small as Crested Butte, we really feel the influx of visitors. It can be a great time to enjoy warmer, blue bird days on the slopes, but it can also be frustrating if you don’t plan ahead.

If you’re planning a trip to Crested Butte for some spring skiing, or this is your first year as a resident, here’s everything you need to know to make the most of your Spring Break here in paradise.

Lodging & Managing Your Rental

As a resident, Spring Break is a peak time of year for visitors, which means more opportunity to rent your property. Some helpful links for property management companies and home services can be found here.

It’s important, however, to ensure you’re following town, HOA, and complex regulations to ensure you’re renting in a safe and legal way. If you’re unsure of the rules regarding short term renting your property, contact your municipality and/or HOA for clarification.

For visitors, Crested Butte offers a variety of lodging options outside of airbnb and vrbo, whether you’re looking for ski-in/ski-out convenience or a cozy stay in town. Below are a few places to consider:

Consider the Community

Spring Break brings many people to our little town, so be patient, and support our local establishments doing their best to make your experience fantastic!

Dress in Layers

Spring temperatures fluctuate, and the temperature difference between the sun and shade can be quite drastic. Wear moisture-wicking base layers and bring extra layers in case the temperature drops.

Book in advance

Reservations and rentals fill up during spring break so make sure to plan activities ahead of time to ensure availability.

Be Mindful of the Elevation

The sun at our high elevation is intense, so protect your skin with SPF and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Altitude sickness can ruin your trip!

Enjoy the Après Scene

Take advantage of sunny patios and live music at the base area.

Spring Break in Crested Butte is filled with great snow, stunning scenery, and plenty of opportunities to relax and enjoy the mountain town vibe. Plan your trip now and get ready for a season finale to remember!
