Crested Butte Weather and Snow Report

OpenSnow was created by a team of local weather forecasters who are life-long skiers and riders. During the winter, our forecasters write “Daily Snow” updates that will point you toward the best snow conditions. You can also use our mountain-specific forecasts, webcams, and snow reports to find the best snow.
Crested Butte Avalanche Center
The Crested Butte Avalanche Center (CBAC) was born in 2002 out of a need for accurate snow and avalanche information in the Gunnison Valley. Unlike other government funded centers, the CBAC was started by volunteer forecasters issuing daily forecasts from a basement work station. In the past decade, the CBAC has made huge improvements to meet the demands of our growing backcountry community. Through daily avalanche advisories, public outreach, and educational events, we are committed to making the backcountry a safer place.
CBMR Weather Report
Check out the snow and weather report on the mountain as well as the Mountain Cams before hitting the slopes. Crested Butte Mountain Resort is committed to reporting their snow accurately and transparently, according to strict standards for the industry. Snowfall from each storm can vary widely across the mountain, but reporting standards and consistency require that snow is measured at a single location every day, season to season. The CBMR snow reporting location, which includes the Snow Stake and Pow Cam, can be found at the base of the High Lift.
